Beastly

Title: Beastly

Author: Alix Flinn

Pages: 304

Cover Rating: 3/5

Character Rating: 4/5

Plot Rating: 3/5

Overall Rating: 4/5

I really enjoyed this book, but could not give it that high of ratings because of the magic contained in it. I am not a big fan of magic...so... but anyway, I thought it was a good book. It was a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, with a slight twist, it is in modern times, to be exact, in NYC. I really like the story line, I mean, what is not to like???? It was about finding true love, and not caring what that person looked like. Which I think is very important, because I believe that if you are going to fall in love, it should not be about their looks. Well anyway, I really liked the book, and recommend it to people who like fairytales, or just good books.

Plot:

I am a beast.

A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.

You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.

Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.

The Scarlet Pimpernel

Character Rating: 5/5

Plot Rating: 5/5

Overall Rating: 5/5

I had to read this book for school and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!! It was AMAZING!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book. It is a very good book. It takes place in the time of Reign of Terror, that occurred in France. I loved the plot because it had so many twists and turns, that left you wanting more, and wondering. I many a time had a smile on my face because of the cunning of the elusive Scarlet Pimpernel. It was a great book, and I thought that the characters were depicted very realistically, because it showed their mistakes along with their accomplishments. It also showed their weaknesses. All in all this was a FABULOUS book, and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys historical fiction that involves true love, and much action.

Plot:

In 1792, during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror, an English aristocrat known to be an ineffectual fop is actually a master of disguises who, with a small band of dedicated friends, undertakes dangerous missions to save members of the French nobility from the guillotine. (this is a very brief summary, I did not want to give anything away.)

The Face on the Milk Carton

Title: The Face on the Milk Carton
Author: Caroline B. Cooney
Pages: 184
Cover Rating: 3/5
Plot Rating: 3/5
Character Rating: 3/5
Overall Rating: 3/5

I have to say that I did like this book. I just not as fond of it as I expected to be... It was a good book none the less, and liked the characters, and thought that they were very realistic. The story line was a very good one, I thought that it really took some twists, and I was glad for that. It was a definite cliff hanger at the end, and you can count on me reading the next book in the series soon. All in all it was a good book.

Plot:

No one ever really paid close attention to the faces of the missing children on the milk cartons. But as Janie Johnson glanced at the face of the ordinary little girl with her hair in tight pigtails, wearing a dress with a narrow white collar—a three-year-old who had been kidnapped twelve years before from a shopping mall in New Jersey—she felt overcome with shock. She recognized that little girl—it was she. How could it possibly be true?

Janie can't believe that her loving parents kidnapped her, but as she begins to piece things together, nothing makes sense. Something is terribly wrong. Are Mr. and Mrs. Johnson really Janie's parents? And if not, who is Janie Johnson, and what really happened?

You might be wondering why the book I 'm reading changed, but yet no review. Well I had to return The Kite Runner to the library because someone else had it on hold, so I was not able to renew it unfortunately. I was on page 202, and will check it out as SOON as possible. I am deeply enjoying the book and would love to finish it. Till latter,
